Microsoft Money Requires Internet Explorer 6 to Function Properly Error in Windows 10

»»»Microsoft Money Requires Internet Explorer 6 to Function Properly Error in Windows 10
When running Microsoft Money in Windows 10 final RTM Gold Master build, the following error message is shown in dialog box, and Microsoft Money program automatically quits and closes itself.

Money requires Internet Explorer 6 to function properly. Please reinstall Internet Explorer 6 so these components can be added.

Microsoft Money Requires Internet Explorer 6 to Function Properly

The problem cannot be resolved by reinstalling Microsoft Money, nor by running Microsoft Money in compatibility mode. Apparently the problem happens because Microsoft Money is expecting version of Internet Explorer which does not longer than 15 characters.

To resolve the error, try the following registry hack:

  1. Open Registry Editor (RegEdit).
  2. Navigate to the following registry key:

    For 64-bit Windows 10:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

    For 32-bit Windows 10:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer

  3. In the right pane, look for Version registry value.
  4. Modify the value date to 9.11.10240.0, or any other value which the full length of version is shorter than or equal to a maximum of 15 digits.

Microsoft Money Windows 10 Registry Fix

Note: The default value date for the Version in Windows 10 RTM Build 10240 is 9.11.10240.16384.

That’s it. You should be able to open and run Microsoft Money in Windows 10 without issue now.

Then I tried just changing it in one place and not the other, no joy. Changing it in the other, but not the one, no joy. AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!!

Also, just saw this post above:

  • GovM [MS]

We have fixed this in an update to release in the next couple of weeks.

  • ElBocko

Thank you for posting. Good solution. Worked for me.

  • Money_Man

Thank you, LK, your work-around is working for me on Microsoft Money 2007 Version 16.0 running on my just-upgraded Windows 10 laptop. If I had not found your post, and this had not worked, I would have had to roll-back to Windows 8.1. I have not found *anything* that does what I want/need in any other apps. Microsoft Money runs my personal financial life! I have not experienced the error message others have described here, and will keep my fingers crossed that I won’t. Thanks again for your time!

  • roger price

Thanks for the post and fix. Glad to see all the users who are still using Microsoft Money. I have checking account info dating back to 1997. Currently using the Money Deluxe Sunset version for as a person who hates Quicken.

  • gepers

Greatly appreciated! I didn’t know what I was going to do if I couldn’t get Money to work. Thank You very much.

  • Bela Somssich

Fantastic. Thank you so much! Worked a treat!

  • GEN

    merci super reussi

  • Dominique Dave

Thank you , you saved 15 years of my family’s financial life!

  • TrueRedhead

I installed Windows 10 this morning and got the same error code. I tried both registry values and it still won’t open. Any suggestions?

    • Barry Thomason

I did the same, but then noticed that I needed to go to each folder as written, local machine, software, wow6432node, Microsoft & finally Internet Explorer. Mine now works.

      • TrueRedhead

Thanks! I’ll try that. I rolled back to Windows 8.1 to back up and convert everything to Quicken just in case. Fingers crossed!

        • TeeMarie

So you edited the local machine registry, software, etc. . .each one individually? my HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE has no data values entered there. This is what I change?

          • TrueRedhead

I added/changed the value for every part of the regedit command:

            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
            SOFTWARE
            Wow6432Node
            Microsoft
            Internet Explorer

            Hope this helps!

          • Jean-Luc Dupaigne

            This for a 64bits system

          • Bradley Day

Jean-Luc, I did state that I have a 64bit system. Any idea why it does not look the same in the Internet Explorer folder as it does in your screen shot of the location? None of those has the offending 15 digit value, or anything like the 9.11.10240. part of it. Yet I still have the exact problem with Money. I’m thinking I should restore to pre-windows 10 and forget about it.

          • Jean-Luc Dupaigne

Do you have still a problem running Money under Windows 10 ? When installing W10 on my last computer last week with Microsoft new patches, I runned Money without installing manually any patch.

Neverless there is two patches to solve the problem, one for W10 32 bits and one for W10 64 bits. Both worked, I applied each one on one of my two laptops. You must know your type and apply the patch. But you can apply both if you want, there is no problem to do that, for example if you have by chance a 32bits Internet explorer running on a 64bits Windows !

            CSchmidt • 24 days ago

Found something that worked for me, did the 64 and the 32 bit fix

This is for 64 bit version of build 10240

            [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftInternet Explorer]
            “Version”=”9.11.10240.0” (originally: 9.11.10240.16384)

            32 bit version:

The registry entry is not the same on the 32 bit version of build 10240; there is no Wow6432Node sub folder. Instead the entry is here:

            [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet Explorer]
            “Version”=”9.11.10240.0” (originally: 9.11.10240.16384)

I assume it will work for the 32 bit version in the same way.

          • Bradley Day

My system is 64-bit, and yet it sounds like the Win 10 version I got was for 32-bit, since it does not have the Wow6432Node sub folder. Is that possible? In any case, the registry was not the same as what you pictured in your article. My solution was to revert back to Win 8.1 on my desktop, and Win 7 on the laptop.
Do you think the patch would be there to fix the Money problem if I was to try a re-install of Win 10?

          • Jean-Luc Dupaigne

I’s a wrong idea to go back to W8 or W7 since Money works under W10 now for everybody, except you !
It’s possible to a an 32bits Internet Explorer under a 64bits W8, but really unusual. Are you sur that W8 is a 64 bits because it’s possible to hade an 32bits operating system on a 64bits machine?
Are you sure to have Windows Update active on your machine ? Because a patch was installed last week to solve the problem for Money.
Anyway apply both patches quoted above and Money will work.

          • Bradley Day

Thank you so much for your help with my questions! Do I understand correctly now? If I install W10 again, and run Windows Update, that will solve the problem? And I would not have to do anything in Regedit?

          • Jean-Luc Dupaigne

That’s it; since two weeks (in France).

          • Misty

What do you mean exactly when you say every part of the command?! HELP!

          • TrueRedhead

            Regedit:

FInd HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and put the value in the data field (9.11.10240.0.)

Click on SOFTWARE and do the same
Click on WOW6432Node-see value click on it and add the same value
Click on MICROSOFT-do the same, add the 9.11.10240.0
Click on Internet Explorer and do the same

            Hope this helps!

          • Brad

Hello Redhead. I have never ventured into a registry. Thank you for your post.
My WIN 10 64 bit system regedit does not look quite the same as described here. No Wow6432Node, and this: Instead of “Version” it says “Version Vector”, and in it is 3 folders. 1) Default REG_SZ (Value not set) 2) IE REG_SZ 9.0000 3) VML REG_SZ 1.0 So I am really confused why mine is different, and which one to edit. None of them have the version number described in these articles.

          • TrueRedhead

            Hey Brad,
I am hesitant to tell you to go ahead and change it given that your registry is a bit different. Perhaps the author of the article could chime in or another person who has had the same issue. I hope it gets fixed! It’s very frustrating.

          • Bradley Day

Thank you for your reply. Very kind of you. Yes, I am very fearful of editing anything in there if it does not look like what you guys are all seeing. I just installed WIN 10 on 8/27. Could it be a little different already? I do not see the offending 15-digit value, but I do have the exact problem with Money. Go figure!

          • TrueRedhead

Sorry, TeeMarie, I typed a response the other day and thought it went through. Yes, I changed and or added the value to all components.

      • TrueRedhead

        It worked! Thanks, Barry!

      • George B B

        Hi Barry,
I have 32 bit windows 10 and don’t have Internet explorer in wow6432node but In found it directly in software/microsoft.
I went into Version vector with 3 values. Default, IE and VML. I changed them individually and all together but my Money still wont run. Any ideas.

    • Derek Cass

I did exactly the same and Ms Money still comes back with the requirement for Internet Explorer 6

      • TrueRedhead

Derek, see Barry’s comment below. On every line, change of each part of the command, change the value to the right to the 9.11.10240.0

  • bubu

it’s ok but import data file .ofx doesn’t work in money. do you have a solution?

  • Jason Poletta

mine doesn’t say version it says default REG_SZ value not set

  • DL

works so far- thanks for helping save nearly 10 years of data! what was MS thinking when they did away with Money…?

  • tdse

Thank you! I’ve never been able to find an acceptable substitute for Microsoft Money. Been using it since 1993 🙂

  • ra

  • Peter Gordon

I tried this fix, but I don’t have the Wow6432Node following Software.

  • ndfan77

Just wanted to add my thanks as well! (Sure wish M$ would rethink their support for Money.)

  • Harimin

Thanks a lot for your tip. I confirm that my Microsoft Money 99 is working perfectly on Windows 10 64bit. 18 years old software works in Windows 10.

  • Matthew P. Warren

A brilliant fix – thank you very very much!

  • Taffyduck10

I had to edit “Version” at “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet Explorer”, but it worked for me. Running Windows 10, which was upgraded from Windows 8.1.

    • BULLDOZ’r

      ^^this.

      My Windows 10 didn’t have a “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432Node” folder,
but a “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoft” instead. The fix worked for me.

  • Costanza

Thank you for this; was about to go back to Windows 8.1 because MS Money is just indispensable; one of the best ever application software. You just saved my Windows 10 installation.

  • neo905

Thanks for posting this! This has saved me time and money.

  • Taureau53

  • Taylor Foust

Wow did you just save my life, been using MS Money since 1995 and thought I was gonna lose my mind when I first tried opening it. This worked first try, really wish Microsoft would rethink Money way better than Quicken!

  • Sébastien GILLOT

    Thank you.

  • Finbar O’Donovan

    Fantastic -I’m saved

  • Diane Reyes

    Thank you!!

  • Iain Barker

Lifesaver – Windows 10 updated overnight and tonight found Microsoft Money wouldn’t work – been using it since February 1993 so 22+ years of data disappeared with one MS Update! After a bit of experimenting changing all of the versions managed to get this to work – Thanks!

  • Dennie Sherer

I have no idea what any of that means. Regedit? I’m lost, and afraid I’m screwed.

  • Saba0604

Thank you! You are my hero. I’ve been using Microsoft Money for years and all of a sudden it doesnt work because of Office 10!

  • Bernard Tanauji

    Hello,

I try it, but I do not find Microsoft/Internet explorer in the key wow6432node
    . Only OEM/Metadata
    I have W10 family
    Thanks for your help

  • Karine

PARFAIT !!! cela fonctionne de nouveau, Merci beaucoup!

  • Jean-Michel Davault

    Thanks. Workaround worked perfecly.
When will Microsoft dare to propose an update to this excellent program?
which works for years but unfortunaly has some features that doesn’t work anymore …

  • J

I just think it’s awesome that all of us are such die hard Money fans. Been using it since 99 and I see that I am not alone. If it ever becomes incompatible, I will build a virtual machine and run Money for eons to come!

  • cbref3

  • John Johnstone

Fantastic – thanks so much. I have been using MS Money since v1 was given away free with MS office software in the late 80s. Its the only software that I worry about when moving Windows versions and there is nothing else like it currently available. Shame on Microsoft for dropping it!

  • Sy

Money opened but at first but it did not function. Auto deposits or even entering any transactions was impossible I thought windows 10 was a goner, I needed the Money 2004 application. Then I opened the app again while I reported here to get the error code and it was working. I hope this off and on does not occur again. I am glad to have this 15-year-old app, with a 2004 CD included with my old computer update, working on my desktop again. I do not know how I would get on without it. I was lucky to have a TV computer I did not update to transfer my files to from my back up while it was out on the upgraded desktop. Thank you for the fix. I noticed this problem is a major Microsoft feedback report.

  • OutsideTheSquare

Thank you this worked for me first time.

  • Vito LaBella

Sorry, I tried the reg edit and I did the first part, but no luck. I’m kind of lost with the more complicated instructions. If anybody can help me walk through it, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

  • Michael

I tried that but got “Cannot edit version:Error writing the vaule’s new contents”. Any ideas?

    • CC

Be sure to right click on regedit and sellect run as adim.

      • Michael

Thanks, but how exactly do I do that in Windows 10? I can’t see that option. Please advise

        • CC

There was a MS update for Win 10 and Money works as it should. To get to the registry type in the box that says Search the web and Windows ” regedit ” without the quote marks at the top you will see regedit right click run as administer then follow the work around. but again you should not need to edit it as it has been fixed.

          • Michael

Thank you, but I’m still struggling to find this. Please state “Right click on… ” etc, I should manage then. Thanks heaps

          • Michael

I can’t find the option that says “Search the web and windows though”. I think that was in win 8, I am now running Windows 10. Thanks for your help though- appreciate it

          • Michael

Thank you very much! I have this sussed now. Cheers!

  • glb360

The registry change did open MS Money but immediately crashed (stopped working) and closed.

  • Duncan

thank you very much, installed windows 10 yesterday and needed a quick fix for Money. Worked perfectly!

  • Eddie Hicks

This solution worked perfectly for me. I have over 10 years of financial data on MS Money. It’s a very important program for me. So important that without this fix I was going back to Windows 8. I think a lot of people here having a problem getting this to work probably do not really know how to edit the registry file. Don’t forget to reboot after making changes to the registry. Thank you so much for this easy solution.

  • Derek Cass

Did exactly what you suggested and the problem still exists, with the same message re IE6 required. Alternative answer required, please.

  • Kristine Armstrong Woodworth

You totally saved the day with this! Thank you!

  • Manoj

    Worked like a charm!!

  • Dave Messenger

Nice worked for me first time. Cheers for the post.

  • Robinski

Worked like a charm, the fact I couldn’t get MS Money 2005 to work in Windows 10 was going to be a major hurdle to upgrading from Windows 7. Just ordered a new WD 2TB hard drive for a clean Windows 10 Pro install next week……….. MANY MANY Thanxs!!

  • Xiard

Wow. I’m stunned at the number of comments here. I have to ditto what pretty much everyone else said. I’ve been using Money for years. I was really surprised that I was able to find a solution for this online so soon after Win10 was released. Thanks for the tip. Worked perfectly for me.

  • Mick Micksterr

I tried that registry hack and I still the the error message about ie6…Does the w2k version need to be changed also? and I have money plus deluxe version 17…thanks for any help….

  • CSchmidt

Another MS Money user here, I’ve tried the reg fix by entering 9.11.10240.0 in Default, IE and VML and still getting the error. Do I need to change anything else or just give up, help please!!!

  • George B B

Been using money for21 years. I upgraded to 32 bit windows 10 and had same problem as everyone else.
I went into Version vector with 3 values. Default, IE and VML. I changed them individually and all together but my Money still wont run

    • Robinski

You’ve altered the wrong setting “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftInternet Explorer” ….. don’t go to the “Version Vector” folder!!

Just the “version” setting in the “Internet Explorer” folder ONLY, this is the last level

      ————————————————————————————————–
      Navigate to:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftInternet Explorer.

On the Version key change the .16384 to .0

This will fix Money. You don’t have to change any other keys.

      ————————————————————————————————–

      • CSchmidt

Got to the correct Version key and may the change, still getting the Win 6 Error. I’ve re-started twice, any other suggestions, thanks for the help!

      • Mick Micksterr

I did alter the wrong setting I set it back and went to the right folder and money works great….Thanks for the help.

      • George B B

        Hi Robinski,
my Regedit does not have a internet explorer option under Wow6432microsoft

        • Steve Thompson

          For the 32 bit version:

          [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet Explorer]
          “Version”=”9.11.10240.0” (originally: 9.11.10240.16384)

          • George B B

Thanks Steve, I’ve finally breathed a sigh of relief. Interestingly I didn’t have the internet explorer/version option before but its now appeared probably from recent windows updates.
            Thanks everyone for your contributions.

      • Hoppejr

Changed key above but by just removing the last 4, as advised above by Marc Morgan. This worked and so far everything else is working.
Thanks to all involved in this solution.

  • snoopyswingman

Thankyou, you are a life saver

  • Xavier S

Thanks!

It works fine… thanks a lot!!!

  • CSchmidt

Is there something else for us users that the version key change didn’t work for? Another day and another boot and i’m still getting the error 🙁

  • Harold Cross

changed the regedit and money worked was so happy . but it will only stay open for little bit then shuts down with no error message. does not stay running long enough use it HELP HELP

  • Robert Cruz

I only had to change the Internet Explorer registry setting. I use Money Sunset Business. Reports worked ok too. So far so good. 08/03/15 8pm

  • Ted Gibbs

I tried this fix and Money worked fine until I downloaded a Statement from my bank. I now get an error that that causes money to close down

  • Jacques Adelee

It worked ONCE then repeatedly received error message “problem with………..close program” What now? Help

  • christjak60

  • Andy Beechey

this works but all dates change to US dates, ie rather than 27/06/15 UK date format, it changes to 06/27/15, US date format but i can work with that as long as money works

    • David Roberts

I found that problem with the date format but if you go to windows 10 settings, time & language, region and language, them make English(United Kingdom) as default then when you ropen money it will be back to UK date format.

      • Andy Beechey

Thank you David I’ll try that

  • Brian Pinder

Excellent worked for me straight away many thanks

  • Marc Morgan

Simple solution I found, HKEY-LOCAL MACHINE-MICROSOFT-INTERNET EXPLORER, look for “version” near the bottom, change string value, by deleting the last digit “4”, it’s a quirk in the W10 release, confuses Money, because it cannot find IE in System.

  • Patrick

    Excellent, thank you very much

  • CSchmidt

Found something that worked for me, did the 64 and the 32 bit fix

This is for 64 bit version of build 10240

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftInternet Explorer]
    “Version”=”9.11.10240.0” (originally: 9.11.10240.16384)

    32 bit version:

The registry entry is not the same on the 32 bit version of build 10240; there is no Wow6432Node sub folder. Instead the entry is here:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet Explorer]
    “Version”=”9.11.10240.0” (originally: 9.11.10240.16384)

I assume it will work for the 32 bit version in the same way.

    • Jean-Luc Dupaigne

Splendid ! It works on both system.
      Thank You

  • Alexandre

    Hi. sorry my bad English.

I had not found the registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftInternet ExplorerVersion” , but I found the version in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerVersion

I changed the input 9.11.10240.16384 to 9.11.10240.0 and now everything is working .

    • Jean-Luc Dupaigne

      Youpi !

  • Carl Yanchar

Works great. Thanks. Just be sure to run reg edit as administrator.

  • Pete Richardson

Thank you – saved my bacon! 🙂

  • Wellington Felisberto Machado

Parabéns! A dica resolveu meu problema!
Happy Birthday! The tip solved my problem!

  • lefleau70

it’s OK for me. ça a réglé mon problème, super !!!!

  • Rehposolihp

I changed it like you said. Program (2006 Deluxe) works fine! The only issue is generating reports. Nothing happens. Anyone?

  • Gorgo

Manip effectuée à l’instant : Tout est OK. Il faut bien remplacer 9.11.10240.16384. par 9.11.10240.0.

    • Christelle Faure

        • JUAN

If so many people are having problems with Microsoft money, a program that we purchased, why is it that Microsoft can not make changes in windows 10 to fix this problem

      • Jean-Luc Dupaigne

        Voir ci-dessous
        CSchmidt •

  • James Hofmann

Damn..works!!!! as you know. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

  • Touidi

Thank you, you saved my day. Worked without any problem.

  • Da

    Bonjour, Hi,
I did that and it works perfectly.
    Merci Beaucoup
You just need to follow carefully the path Wow6432Node then microsoft then internet explorer
    Regards from france

  • Tizik4sure

    did not work for me

  • Manda Lei Boyce

YES!!!! What am I going to do when this stuff stops fixing this!! I have used this program for 10 years!! I love the cash flow and how it tracks my bills. Does anyone use any other programs that havent become obsolete?

  • Randy

Thanks a million. Worked like a charm!

  • Gérard

    Parfait, opération réussie. Merci !

  • Clout

Nice too for me it works perfectly
    Merci à vous

    • Jean-Luc Dupaigne

      Merci

  • Ken Octon

I changed the Version value as suggested and Money now opens fine. Many Thanks, my financial chaos has been averted!

  • CC

It worked briefly for a day or two then when opening it it would crash, I tried running it in compatibility mode all the way back to XP SP1 that did not work, then I ran the trouble shooter and it reports Money Sunset as incompatible. I reverted back to Win 7, but read that changing both Version and W2kVersion to 9.11.10240.0 that money worked but can’t try that as I no longer have Win 10, so if someone is game to try this, post back your results.

    • Stephen

Am I missing something here! I am running Money PLUS, but it cannot function properly!

  • Mike Shipley

I was in the middle of balancing a statement, shut down to go to the doctor and initiated my Win10 update while I was gone … came home to all sorts of annoying problems including this one!! Your fix worked perfectly and for that I cannot begin to thank you enough. <3

  • Gordon Blake

Great thank you, working for me at the moment, given me chance to back it up at least on a flash drive, anybody know if Microsoft are going to release a fix?

  • Georges Robert

Thanks, It worked for me. Glad to see many others still using MSMoney 2005 french too. Still Hoping MS will make an update of this program

  • Andy TheBest

Thanks a lot LK. God bless U!

  • Jean-Marie Schwertz

Thank you very much !!!!

  • Missy Backes

Wow! I love you for giving such an easy fix. I love Microsoft Money and searched for awhile to find a replacement when had another issue. Just upgraded to Windows 10 and did not want to lose it. Thanks so much!

  • Jean RIBART

I make exactly the same than Alexandre 4 days ago and all is ok now Money works with Windows 10
    Thank you all.

  • Dennis Whitworth

Against my better judgement I just installed Windows 10 on 8/8/15 and I am checking to see if the stuff I use will run and I immediately found MS Money with this issue. This registry edit did the trick. Thank you. I did have the GOOD SENSE to create a full system before the upgrade in case it causes issues I can go back to what I had.

  • Wendy

Thank You, this worked like a dream, and it works perfectly now, and now I am so happy……

  • olivier89

    bonjour
pour moi la modification ne fonctionne pas

  • Pascal Becret

Thank you to allow us to be able to used again Microsoft money

  • TheEggManCometh

Not overkeen on messing around with registry entries for obvious reasons, though I appreciate the suggestions made. Has anyone found any other way of doing it? Or another piece of software that MM can be transferred to which will work as well?

  • Tristan

    thanks for the advice.
I thought that I would have to look for another software so as money!

  • Stephen

Am I missing something here! I am running Money PLUS, but it cannot function properly! View Hide

    • CHUCK

Any luck fixing this. I have the same problem

  • olivier89

  • jason hawkins

i had this problem on windows 10 and it did work many thanks to the person who found this hack

  • Fordyce

I would like to thank you so much to have revived my “Money”. The hack suggested works perfectly.
    Cheers.

  • Greg

Thanks. Worked for me first time. FYI was using Money 2004 Windows 10 64 bit.

  • Marc Lelong

  • Daniel Avila

Indeed that was the order in which I was able to fix Microsoft Money on Windows 10.

The initial DLL patch that I applied did not work; I had to look for the DLL patch specifically for Money Sunset. Once I did that, Money no longer crashed/froze when I downloaded statements from the bank.

Recap: First I applied the registry fix and then I applied the correct patched DLL file.

Thank you everyone for the help.

  • BasB

Thankyou so much, it worked straight away and saves me so much hassle trying to transfer all the info to another system.
    Many thanks

  • Sara

    • cat

merci tout plein….c’est nickel: bravo !

    • phil36

un grand merci Sara !! Money fonctionne parfaitement sous W10

  • MythTW

thanks so much, I have exactly the same problem!!! I’ll try and test when I go back home 😀

  • Ross

It is Sat 15 Aug 2015 8am. Overnight Microsoft have done something in a update and my MS Money is working not quite the same feel but is doing all the things I use it for.

  • chris

  • Larry

I just try to pull up my reports in Money 2006, this is after upgrading to Windows 10 and updating the registry to get pass the IE 6.0 message, but nothing happens. It does switch to the reports section and a custom report no longer loads. Anyone experience this? Any known work-around?

  • Nicole Banks

Thank you so much! This worked PERFECTLY. I really appreciate you posting this!

  • Martin Crosbie

I’m really not the only one refusing to let money die? awesome. MS are you listening!

  • Juan

Works for me, Thanks a lot

  • LEARNUP.FR

  • IOLO PIERCE

I finally got it working as well using the Registry Editor.
However, the resolution of the graphical interface is now extremely poor!
Is there any way of changing this without changing the overall resolution of the screen, for everything?
Has anyone any else experienced this?, and has anyone any idea why this happens?

  • JimboJones0891

Looks like it worked! Thank you for the info. It was a great help!

  • graham tarling

Had 1 machine that upgraded fine and Money 2004 worked without an issue. Then my upgraded my other box to W10 and Money got the specified error. Go figure. This reg edit did the trick. – thanks so much!

    • Jez Armand

I had the same as you. 1 pc ok, other with problem. The one with the problem that I edited the registry to get working I have now re-edited the registry and put the original (9.11.10240.16384) line back in and it works fine. This makes no sense and I am waiting to see what happens next month when the first updates to Win10 come through

  • CAF34

  • Jez Armand

I had the same problem with MS Money and Windows 10 that many other people have had. I follow the reg edit suggested and it worked on my daughters pc. I then upgraded my pc but for reasons unknown I had no problems and didn’t need to edit the registry. So I checked my registry and discovered that the 9.11.10240.16384 line that is causing people so many problems was still there, but MS Money is working ok. I have now re-edited the registry on my daughters pc and put the line back rebooted and her pc is running ms money fine. Am I just lucky or have Microsoft changed something in the week between downloads of Windows 10

  • W

Merci beaucoup!!

  • Michael

Awesome! This worked perfectly. I thought I was the only one on the planet still using Money 2006. Glad to see I’m not alone. Thanks!!!

  • Luis

Good save You!!! It’s working perfectly!!

  • wd5mush

Certainly worked for me. I have a 64bit machine and would be lost without MS Money – although the day will come I guess when it will die a death. Perhaps we ought to start a discussion on alternatives. I have investigated a few, but none seem to have the functionality of Money.

  • New Boy

After I printed this discussion to get started on updating my registry etc. I accidentally clicked on a link which looked like a virus. I decided to turn off the PC as the display was frozen apart from the message telling me to ring a no. for a solution. As I have up to date virus protection I ignored this. On re starting the PC some time later Windows 10 spent some time activating some up dates. After this Microsoft Money opened without asking for IE version 6. Do you think Microsoft have sorted this and the fix was in those updates?

    • Jean-Luc Dupaigne

That’s it ; last week patch resolved the Money problem. I didn’t try to know how.

  • Lolotte0171

Bonjour, super ! ça marche parfaitement pour moi ! Jamais je n’aurai trouvé ça toute seule ! encore merci !!!!

  • João Saraiva

    Thanks

  • Allan

Thank You! Your directions were perfect and it worked like a charm.

  • dan

  • Leroy

For those of you still having crashing problems with Microsoft Money and Windows 10 there is an old bug in the software that will cause this. Have a look here and see if this fixes the crashing problems. https://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d28d6921-1f01-430f-b33e-f5a3ec47077b/important-patch-for-money-plus-maybe-20062007-mnyob99dll?forum=money

  • Gérard Boulay

    Bonjour,
