DiskPart Cannot Delete a Protected Partition

»»»DiskPart Cannot Delete a Protected Partition
When attempting to delete a partition or volume with “DELETE PARTITION” command in DiskPart, primarily to remove hidden or system protected partitions, the deletion operation failed with the following error message:

Virtual Disk Service error:

DiskPart Cannot Delete Protected Partition

If you attempt to use “DELETE VOLUME” command to remove the partition instead, the DiskPart may simply crash.

To successfully delete any partitions, use the following command instead:

The “override” flag enables DiskPart to delete any partition regardless of type. Typically, DiskPart only permits you to delete known data partitions.

Note that you still cannot delete the system partition, boot partition, or any partition that contains the active paging file or crash dump (memory dump) filed.

Delete partition override worked just fine. Thanks!

I cannot delete my partition for the life of me. Even override failed. Crashes when i delete volume, or gives me virtual disk error when deleting partition. This is definitely a recovery partition from my previous install. I’ve moved over to an SSD. I’m trying to get as much space from my old drive as possible.

are you using your SSD for diskpart? You should be able to delete any partitions of disks that are not boot disks
