The release of Windows 10 Build 10130 ISO images is due to a bug which prevented some users from successfully upgraded to Windows 10 Build 10130 through Windows Update. Microsoft explained:
Hi everyone, today we are releasing the ISOs for Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10130. We are not, however, releasing Build 10130 to the Slow ring due to several bugs we’re looking to fix. Once we have these fixes in hand and ready to push out to Windows Update, we’ll consider pushing Build 10130 to the Slow ring. I know we said we would only release ISOs if we push a build to the Slow ring but we’re making a special exception today. We know that a bunch of Windows Insiders on the Fast ring are currently blocked getting to the latest build due a 0x80246017 error. With the ISOs, they can mount the image and upgrade directly from the ISO and get unblocked.
Microsoft did not initially push the Windows 10 Build 10130 to Windows Insiders who chose the Slow ring, contrary to the tradition where Windows 10 Preview ISO images normally come together with Slow ring release. But by mid June, the Windows 10 Build 10130 was released to Slow ring, together with several updates through Windows Update that fix several bugs in the build:
- KB3070365: We fixed an issue where if you click on the icons on the Taskbar (Start, Cortana, Network, Battery, and Action Center) in this build, the expected fly-out might not open.
- KB3069069: We fixed the issue where after upgrading to this build audio playback is lost in some hardware configurations.
- KB3070677: We fixed an issue where if you’re running the “Core” edition of the Windows 10 Insider Preview and Windows Update might not detect new builds available.
- KB3070982: This dynamic update prevents an issue that can result in the loss of audio when the upgrade is completed in some hardware configurations.
Note: Some sound cards may fail to operate in multichannel mode. The workaround to the problem is to set the default audio format to stereo.
